Our First Workshop Recap

This past Saturday we hosted our first ever workshop! We taught our attendees about shooting in manual, gave them hands on shooting experience, talked about using Lightroom, business tips, and hopefully encouragement.  That morning, I paced back and forth about a million times, reviewed my slides at least a dozen times, and checked the clock every 2 minutes. I was nervous- really nervous. But Logan did what he always does in times like this, he held my hand and told me it was going to be great. He let me know that they were going to love me and I was going to help them in some way or another. When the first knock came to the door, my heart jumped into my throat. “I’m not ready, this was a mistake, I can’t be teaching, and AHHHHHH” were the thoughts that ran through my head as I opened the door. When we first started, I was still feeling a little bit panicky. The whole night before, I’d barely slept because of nightmares about the workshop and I was sure something from those dreams would happen. We started with introducing ourselves and having the attendees do the same. When they were done, I told them what their “power” was. It was at that moment, that my nerves settled. And something clicked for me in my mind. My love for teaching and the thought of helping someone else empower themselves and their business thrilled me! My confidence soared and I knew that I had something to offer these women. That “power” I mentioned before is ourselves. Everyone has that power because no one is exactly like you. For that purpose, we will all treat people differently and do things at least a little different even when placed in the same situation. This idea is so encouraging to me and was exactly what I needed to start off the time we had with them.

Watching each of them really start to understand what we were talking about made every moment of prep and stress worth it. We filled our time with as much information as possible and took them out to practice their new shooting skills on Bailey, one of our favorite seniors! We wanted them to leave, feeling a little overwhelmed, but with a good understanding of what they were doing. I couldn’t help but smile as I finished up helping one of them, and turn to find Logan helping the other with their questions. As we wrapped up the workshop, my heart was full. I’m SO excited for the girls that we had at this workshop and I can’t wait to see what they do with the things they learned!! And we are really looking forward to teaching more in the future!!
