This Barn on 1st wedding was one that made your heart just want to burst! It was filled with so much love, even amidst grief. I’m pretty sure that there were tears from just about everyone this day. Both Hank and Haley tragically lost their first spouses, Dallin and Mekala. They passed almost a year apart from each other. It was so obvious that Hank and Haley have a way of being able to help each other heal and understand each other. While these two have now experienced something that no one would ever want to, watching them blend their two new families together in the most beautiful way has truly been a gift. Through their relationship, they continue to love and honor Dallin and Mekala by doing a week-long acts of service during the anniversary of their deaths. They even incorporated Haley’s wedding ring from Dallin into her new wedding ring she wears from Hank. They will be such special partners to one another as they journey through the rest of their lives together!

These two shared a first look that was so sweet and tender; it was one of my favorite parts of the day. Their portraits were filled with laughter and joy. After their first look together, their kids walked each of them down the aisle to say their vows. The words were so beautiful from the ceremony. They were counseled to let the references of “his, hers, yours, and mine apply to only toothbrushes, bath towels and underwear. And to place more focus on terms such as us and ours.” You can hear more of that in their wedding video below!

Dallin and Mekala’s families were also a part of the wedding. Dallin’s dad even joined in on the dance floor, making all the kids laugh. It was such a great testament to the joy in finding hope and love once again, while still loving and remembering those who have gone too soon.
