When I graduated from high school, I decided to fly out to Iowa and visit my brother Troy, his wife Carrie, and the kids, while he was going to medical school. I really had no clue how much that trip would mean to me and the tradition it started. I went in October and we went to pumpkin patches and apple orchards, stayed up late looking at Pinterest (it had just become a big thing), and crafting. Carrie and I were close before that trip, but that trip in the fall made us even closer as sisters and friends. Now I know that every fall, I will fly to wherever they are and spend some time there with them. As crazy as life is right now, I honestly wasn’t sure I was going to make it this year. But Logan told me I needed this. I needed to step away and take that time for me. This trip was exactly what I needed to feel refreshed, recharged, and ready to go!! While I was in Colorado, I played more Hungry Hippos in a few days than I think I have in my whole life, gained probably 10 pounds, laughed until my ears hurt (it’s a real thing for me), cried, and had the best time being a sister and aunt for a few days. I couldn’t be more grateful for the decision Troy made to marry Carrie almost 10 years ago. She became my first “sister” and has been one of my best friends. We’ll see where next fall takes us 🙂
These two are the only nieces on my Fowler side. And I sure love them!!
