I think it’s important to always look for ways to learn, grow, and be inspired! This can happen in so many ways- books, conferences, classes, podcasts, webinars, mentoring, networking, etc. Today I want to focus on something I have found really helpful through my pregnancy!
I’ve been trying to walk on a treadmill at the house during the cold months and now outside as often as possible. While I’ve been walking, I listen to the Disney Pandora station or Ben Rector Pandora. But some days music just wasn’t working for me! On those days, I would try to find different podcasts to listen too! These were great because they gave me things to think about as I walked and made the time go quicker as I tried to walk on the treadmill for a certain amount of time each day. I even started taking notes while I listened to some of them because I felt so motivated, inspired, and intrigued by what they were saying. Logan laughs at those notes I wrote because my already not so great handwriting goes to crap because I wasn’t pausing the treadmill, just taking notes as I walked!!
Not every podcast I found resonated with me. Heck, I stopped so many podcasts 5-10 minutes in because it was just wasn’t working for me. But I have found a couple that I really have enjoyed listening too and I think you should check them out if you are looking for something like this!
The Goal Digger Podcast by Jenna Kutcher is my number one favorite right now. I love Jenna’s personality and how she runs her podcasts. I haven’t listened to all of them, but every single one I have listened to has been helpful in some way!!! I really enjoyed Purposefully Slowing Down with Katelyn James, Redefining Success in Life and Business with Mary Marantz, Authentic Social Media Marketing, and Creating an Unforgettable Brand with Jen Olmstead. I’ve got a ton I still need to listen to on this one, but I highly recommend this one!
Jenna’s podcast about social media marketing is one of the things that really had me stopped in my tracks and was one of the things that really made me want to stop and focus on what we post and do with social media. That played into why I was taking a little break from blogging and social media. She has some really good points and I wanted to make sure I was taking them into consideration!! Here are some of the things I wrote down from it-
“Find your people and serve them well.” This one played into me spending time really refocusing on what the purpose of our business is and what we should be doing with it!! “Why am I posting this online? What will it do for my people?” She seriously gave me so much to think about!! “Are you sharing images for your people (brides) or for your industry?” That was something I think I was starting to struggle with. I was losing sight of why I was doing Instagram! I’m doing it to showcase my brides and attract clients and other brides who will love what we do!! I don’t need to be on Instagram for the other photographers, I need to be on there for my people. I really needed to hear that one. It put me back on the ground and helped me shift my focus!! And then she said that in every 9 photos on Instagram, you should be in one. That will help keep your followers connected to YOU! Don’t just take my word for it, go listen to that episode of hers now!
The Coffee Commute by Davey Jones and Natalie Franke was really good too! This one was fun to listen too, they aren’t creating any new shows of this one, but I enjoyed listening to these ones as I went along.
There are podcasts on basically every topic. If you aren’t interested in these photography/creative entrepreneur podcasts, search something else out!! I’m sure you will be able to find something you love. Let me know what podcasts you love!
