While we were in Maui, we posted a photo on Facebook and Madi commented on it saying they were in Maui too!! They were there celebrating their anniversary!! We talked about what we’d been doing and all the yummy shaved ice we had. They had found the same shaved ice place and fallen in love with it too. It seriously is SO amazing! When I told her that on Sunday we were going to just walk along beaches and take pictures, she told me that was the exact date of their anniversary and of course we had to do an anniversary session then. It was all too perfect!!

When they arrived, I asked Nick to tuck a flower behind her left ear, because that signifies you are married. We learned that when we came here on our honeymoon and I think it’s such a sweet thing to do- that’s just the sappy, romantic in me. As I watched these two hold on tight to each other, it reiterated in my heart and mind the importance of marriage. These two have figured out they need each other. They aren’t whole without the other and they spent their anniversary in Hawaii to refocus on each other and take a break from the day-to-day busyness of life. Somedays I think we all need that in our marriage- to step away from the schedules, work, and life, to really focus on each other. It’s these times that really strengthen a couple in our opinion. I’ll get off my soapbox now 🙂
