THE JOURNAL

Ashton and Kayleigh Meridian Temple Wedding

I am always so honored when I get to photograph more than one wedding in a family! It feels like getting to see friends again! While I had previously photographed Kayleigh’s sister’s Meridian temple wedding, Ashton and Kayleigh’s wedding had to look just a little bit different from what they had imagined — getting married during the pandemic did that. It was strange to see the Meridian temple grounds almost completely empty, with only a few guests allowed to be there. They even had to use a pop-up tent just outside the temple doors to change into their wedding attire because they weren’t allowed to change in the temple. However, this also meant we had the whole place to ourselves for photographs — a photographer’s dream! We got even *more* dreamy photos during their formal session, so definitely check those out too!

Despite the necessary alterations to their wedding day plans, Ashton and Kayleigh made the most of it! Their day was still so special and intimate. They had a beautiful summer day for their wedding — in fact, it might have been the hottest day of the entire summer! We all definitely felt the effects of the hot day during the dance party, but don’t worry, the macarons and cannoli bar (yes, cannolis!!!) kept everyone energized!
Ashton and Kayleigh got “covid creative” by welcoming their guests via a drive-through reception to minimize contact and handing out pre-packaged Crumbl cookies as their wedding favors for guests. They even had large signs with pictures that shared a timeline of their love story so all the guests could get to know them better. After the drive-through line ended, they shared an intimate dinner with their closest friends and family. All of this took place directly across from the Meridian temple! I loved seeing the beautiful temple all lit up in the dark, especially when the night ended with a sparkler exit and even fireworks!
