This week has been busy, but honestly what week isn’t?! I’ve been working on the retreat all week and Logan’s been working on videos. We’ve stayed up late together working on a “secret project” every night and I’m starting to really feel that one… We’ll sleep in a few weeks 🙂 Even though we’ve been working hard and needing to get a lot done this week, we knew that we would regret it if we didn’t make the time to get to the Eastern Idaho State Fair at some point this week. Logan grew up going to the fair every year, I did not. Since we have been together though, we’ve been to every one and this year just seemed extra special. I felt like I enjoyed it even more than normal. On Wednesday morning, we decided to let ourselves sleep in just a little bit and then head down to the fair earlier in the day to beat the crowds and lines. We timed it just right because we never waited in line for food and we never had to fight around a crowd. We started off our time there at one of our favorite places- the pet store booth! It seems like each year we fall in love with a puppy while we are there. This year we didn’t hold or pet any of them- maybe that’s what usually does the trick- but we did check out the tarantulas and got Logan freaked out!! Haha 🙂

My stomach was rumbling so we stopped at the little “Bread Barn” for a slice of bread with raspberry honey butter on it. If you’ve never tried that stuff- DO IT!!! From there, we met up with Logan’s sister (Emily) and her husband (JJ) in the showroom booths. We walked around just aimlessly perusing through all the booths. The last booth before we were heading out to grab some lunch was the magic booth. I’ll be honest, I know that these guys practice and get things right and that magic is a trick of the mind, but I swear I just eat it right up. He was so incredible and I could have stayed there all day!! I loved it!! He got me really good on the last trick, where he had me envision 6 cards with the pattern of red, black, red, black, etc. After I had said my 6, he told me he knew I was going to say the jack of clubs on the 5th card and when we flipped that card over in sharpie it said “this is the 5th card.” I just about died. Don’t ruin the magic for me if you know how he did it!!

Once we left the magic show, I grabbed spicy dutch oven potatoes and Logan got the bullseye burger (a bbq burger on a glazed donut!!). Yum, fair food and oh, the calories. And don’t forget those scone nuggets… Did I mention the calories?! JJ and Emily bought ride passes and we walked around with them as they went from ride to ride. That’s the part of the fair that I love. I love those bright, vibrant, fun colors against the blue sky. It’s always so fun!! If you’re going to go, be sure to walk through the photography and cake contest booths. We always love walking through those ones and seeing so much talent! It’s incredible!! We did not enter images in the fair this year, but still love looking at everyone’s images.

We finished off our time there with a Mexican crazy corn because it’s my FAVORITE! I can’t get enough of that stuff!! If you haven’t been to the EISF yet this year, GO!! If not for the food, entertainment, or rides, just go and people watch. That’s pretty fun too 🙂
