I couldn’t let the day go without getting these up on the blog!! Ally is leaving on Wednesday to serve in the Washington D.C. mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I hope she gets a chance to read how excited we are for her.
Yesterday Logan and I had the chance to go listen to her give her farewell talk and when Logan and I got back into the car, he turned to me and said she’s going to be a great missionary. I couldn’t agree more!! When I had hugged her goodbye, I told her that with the amount of time she had to speak, I would have been STRESSING. She said that she was too and that the second half of her talk was made up on the fly to fill the time. I’m pretty sure my jaw hit the floor.
In her talk she shared personal stories about how she came to Christ and how she knows that this is what she’s supposed to be doing with her life at this point of time. As a senior in high school, she’d looked forward too and worked so hard at getting ready for her basketball season. During the fourth quarter of the first game of the season, she passed the ball to her teammate and she both heard and felt the pop. Her Achilles tendon had ruptured. Everything she had trained so hard for was gone in that moment. Ally shared about how it was during this time that she really learned to rely on and lean on our Savior Jesus Christ. Her testimony and conviction of His love for us was so strong and I can tell already that she’s going to be a powerhouse missionary!!
Good luck Ally!! Can’t wait to see you in 18 months!
