Last year Logan and I both felt like we were so busy and not always communicating what we had going on each day. That meant that a lot of times, Logan did not know when I was shooting and I did not know when he had group projects or things that would keep him away from the house after school. We needed a way to keep up with one another and to make sure that if there was something that we both needed to be at or something we needed to get done, we didn’t schedule anything.
We couldn’t use a paper and pen system because Logan was up in Rexburg most of the time and let’s be honest, he probably would not have paid attention to a paper and pen system. I was already using Google calendars for my blogging calendar and I tried to look into ways that we could make something online work to keep us connected. I created a new Google calendar that I shared with Logan! Here we keep track of photoshoots, appointments, meetings, due dates for different weddings or anything we need to remember or remind each other of.
We use a color coded system to help us see things that are for either us personally or together. Green is Logan, purple is me, and teal is the both of us!! Obviously our month of February hasn’t been fully filled in yet, but this has been something that we have found so helpful in helping us stay caught up with one another. If you want to create a calendar, you will make a new calendar, figure out how the two of you want to use it and then share it with their email address. You do that by clicking on calendar settings and share this calendar. If you want to have a family calendar, you can share this multiple emails!!
We love it because we can access it anytime online, but we also have a google calendar app on our phones that we can refer to as well. It’s a free way to keep up with one another if you are busy and on the go!! We have had one of our brides adopt this too after we chatted with them about it and it has been so helpful for them! We hope it can either help you start your own Google calendar or find ways to better communicate what you have going on in your lives with your spouse! It is important to stay caught up with the things going on in one another’s lives and stay connected on the things that we fill our lives with and spend time doing. Staying close to your spouse is so important, especially when we live busy lives.
One of the main missions and goals for our business and the way we live our lives is to show how important marriage is! We love weddings and the happiness that couples feel that day, but we both feel like the best part of all of it comes with marriage. That is the purpose of these blogs, to share things we have learned and done to help us grow in our own marriage.
