Earlier this year, Logan and I traveled up to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, for Taylor and Brianna’s wedding. While Brianna was getting ready for her big day, all of her bridesmaids were surrounding her, reminiscing on their memories with her. As I was introduced to each bridesmaid, I was immediately aware of the fact that I knew Kendall outside of Brianna’s wedding! Kendall was married to someone I went to high school with. Tyson was a year older than me, but our hometown is small- one of those towns where you know everyone you graduated with kind of thing. It was so fun to get to see Kendall and Tyson together at this wedding and to be able to get to know them a little bit better. A couple months later, Kendall sent me an email asking about anniversary photos and that she would love to be able to have the Tetons in the background for some of them. That email made my heart so excited because I LOVE going up to the mountains and this let me know that these two were willing to drive!

As our time together started, they told me that it had been two years since they had been out taking their engagements photos and they are coming up on their two-year anniversary. They had been planning on taking their engagements at Grand Targhee, but the weather was terrible and rainy the entire weekend. They ended up having to take their engagements somewhere else and it has always been on their mind that they wanted to head back to Grand Targhee for pictures. The day of our session together, the sun was shining and the fall colors were in full force all over the mountain. Kendall and Tyson were so comfortable and genuine together. I loved being able to really get to know them and the things they like to do together! Currently, that includes watching a lot of football! One of my favorite things that happened during the session, was that I was able to see just how Tyson and Kendall’s relationship works. Their relationship is playful and fun, and Kendall is always laughing. At one point, I asked Tyson and Kendall to think of any funny, embarrassing stories that happened recently. It was Tyson was remembered first and told me about Kendall asking for Chick-Fil-A sauce when they were at Red Robin. The laughter that followed that story was too good!! While we were over by the Teton overlook, another couple came up that was out celebrating their 40th anniversary!! This couple seemed so happy and still in love with each other after all those years. I asked that couple what their secret was to their 40 years and they said patience and let the guy have a man cave so you can each have a little space sometimes.

Being able to spend my afternoon with Tyson and Kendall and comparing them to the older couple we met, I think it is obvious that these two will be that couple in 38 years. Driving around the mountains and seeing all the fall colors, being so happy together and still in love… probably even still laughing over the Chick-fil-A/Red Robin incident. I cannot wait to see where life takes these two!
