THE JOURNAL

Using the Veil | For Photographers

One of my favorite things to shoot during a wedding day is the details. I love seeing the brides jewelry, ring, and bouquet before she puts it on. These shots serve as a reminder for the bride of all the things she wore on her wedding day and how picture perfect everything was, down to the last detail.

Sometimes shooting the details, we are in places that we not always perfect for shooting. We may have a dark table that isn’t giving it that soft and feminine look we want or a chair isn’t giving enough texture for the bridal details and we want to find a way to give these images that. In order to make the background look the way we want it too, we found a simple solution! Grab the veil!! Lay the veil down on the surface you are shooting on. From there we add the details on top of it folding the veil in to add more texture and depth. That’s it! The veil gives the soft, flowy, feminine look we needed. When you are shooting detail on those surfaces that aren’t going to cut it by themselves, add the veil in for beautiful detail images!!

Brides- make sure to have all your details ready for your photographer to shoot while you are getting hair and makeup done! Having them all together ensures that all the details you want photographed get done.
