There are some families that come into your life and you hope that they never leave!! I love the Yancey family and my association with them started when I was a senior in high school. Sometimes you never fully know the impact of doing or being a certain way and how it will shape parts of your life. That’s how it all started with this family. Ashlyn was a freshman when I was a senior and I took an interested in the freshman volleyball team during my senior year. I was always checking in with them, encouraging them, and cheering them on. Ashlyn was on that team if you didn’t already guess that. That has given me the chance to photograph her senior pictures, missionary pictures, engagement, first look, and wedding photos along with family photos along the way. Right before Ashlyn and Dawson got engaged, the Yancey’s took family pictures without him. Those pictures became dated extra quick once Dawson came into the family just a few months later and I’m so glad we made these happen, even though Dawson is still probably all pictured out from their wedding day less than a year ago! Dawson and Ashlyn moved to California this year and we had just a few days of time with them in Idaho visiting to get these done and it was the perfect weather!! We couldn’t have had it any better.
I have met so many families and couples that I can look up to and admire and this is one of them. From the playful silliness that Dave and Kara still share to the way they all laugh at and with each other. I don’t think I know a family that more inside jokes or funny things to make each other laugh. This family is the real deal and I hope that because I have had the chance to be around them as much as I have, that I can take what I’ve learned from them and implement it in my own life.
