Logan,
Today I’m flying home from Texas and spending the rest of the day in Boise, all while you are having your LAST first day of school at BYU-Idaho (I know you might still want to go father with your schooling). You know that I went back and forth about going on these trips because I REALLY REALLY REALLY am the sap of all saps and wanted to be there today with and for you. But you told me that I should take these opportunities and make things happen. I wish I was there today to make sure I got a picture of you on the first day of the semester. I also wish I was there because I would love to have made you some muffins, packed a little love note in your backpack, held your hand as I walked you to your car and given you a big hug and kiss right before you got in your car. Then stood there in the driveway with the biggest smile on my face… possibly tears rolling down my cheeks too, because you know I’m one of the most emotional people you’ve ever met. I would smile and cry because I’m SO ridiculously proud of you and you deserve this.
I’ve watched you change in the last 3.5 years of our marriage in a lot of ways, but as a student, it is a night and day difference kind of change. If we’re being honest, you weren’t the best student before I came along. School was a struggle for you and it wasn’t a huge priority to make that change, until me. The first semester you were in school after we were married, you were studying for a degree in health administration. The classes didn’t really fit you and you definitely didn’t light up when you spoke about what you learned or were doing. The next semester you decided to change majors and I was a little freaked out, because I knew that meant a couple more semesters would be added on. But I’m so grateful that you made that change. While you have been studying in the communications program for PR and marketing, I’ve seen you light up and be excited about what you are learning. I’ve also seen you thrive and improve upon natural talents and abilities that you have always had. This is the degree that suits you perfectly. I couldn’t have picked a better field for you. You have set and accomplished so many goals with your schooling since the beginning of our marriage and I’m so proud of you. You also haven’t had to retake any classes since then either. WOO! Thank you for making school a priority and for working so hard at everything. So today as you drive up to Rexburg to begin the last semester of this part of our journey, know that I’m cheering you on today and always. Know that I believe in you. Know that I believe great things are in store for you. Know that in just a couple of days, I will be home waiting for you to get home to eat after school ice cream. And above all, know that I love you with my whole heart!
Love,
M
