THE JOURNAL

Dave + Rebecca | Elopement

In February we received an email from Rebecca about her upcoming intimate elopement in Idaho Falls. She and Dave are both from the area, but instead of throwing some big wedding they wanted it to be small, intimate and a really special experience for the two of them and their closest family. Their wedding date was set just 2 days after our 4 year wedding anniversary and we couldn’t think of a better way to spend our weekend than with them, kicking off the beginning to this special time in their lives.

We’ve been to plenty of weddings, but there was something extra special about this one with Dave and Rebecca. As the day got started, we knew it was going to be one of those BITTER cold February days, but the sun was out and seemed determined to help make it feel a little more bearable. We showed up to shoot bridal details for Rebecca and we loved getting to know her and her family. It was here that we also got to hear more about the story and way these two have come together. We learned about how they had been planning on having a traditional wedding, but as the wedding plans kept adding up, they decided to have something smaller, more intimate that really let their relationship take center stage. As we made our way over to the first look, the air was so cold but filled with excitement and so much anticipation from each of them. As Dave turned around to see Rebecca, his eyes filled with emotion and the moment was full of so much love! After being engaged for two years, it was finally real in this moment. As we all froze through portrait time, the sun peeked through for us to give us a little bit more of the golden glow before we headed over to the Persnickety Lemon in downtown Idaho Falls for their ceremony. Rebecca envisioned a ceremony after sunset in order for the candles to come to life against the exposed brick wall and fireplace. It was complete with a wreath of beautiful greenery to really pull it all together. It was exactly what she has hoped for. As this little space (the smallest we’ve ever shot in actually) filled with just a few of their closest friends and family, the love that everyone felt for these two was obvious. The ceremony was SO unique and special to them as a couple. Everyone went around saying things about the couple, causing tears and lots of laughter. As those kind words came to a close, they each took each other by the hand and shared their own heartfelt vows.

This was one of those weddings that we walked away from with our hearts feeling so full. These two were so genuine and in love! We cannot believe how lucky we were to witness this special, special day for them!
