This family was such a joy to photograph. Missy is the kind of mom I aspire to be like! She encourages laughter and playfulness and so much joy in their family. I loved that the girls brought their cute little stuffies. I just had to capture them before they set them down because kids change so quickly and that is who they are at this age!!!

Before this session, I asked Missy and Jase to share with me some of the things they want to remember about motherhood and their kids at this stage in life. Missy said that both girls are SO inquisitive and ask questions about EVERYTHING. “I also want to remember,” says Missy, “that even though there is a lot of chaos in the world and even in the busy details of our life, I feel so much peace when I think about our little family.” Jase says he wants to remember how much Ella and Josie want to make us happy, and the things they do to make us proud of them (like cleaning their room, being kind to each other lol), and that they want us to be involved in everything they do. He also wants to remember how much the kids love him right now and how much they love spending time with him. They are so excited when he comes home from work.

I love asking my families to reflect on the things they love about each other. Not only does it help them to stop and focus on what’s most important during this phase of life, but it also helps me to read their answers!

During our session, the two sisters loved on their little brother Mikey so hard and were always ready to snuggle into someone or play. We spent our time together running through the trees, throwing rocks, and laughing. It was the most perfect, beautiful evening and I’m so glad to have captured these moments for them!
