THE JOURNAL

It’s Graduation Day

December 16, 2016- a day marked on the calendar and in my planner for months. This is a day that Logan and I have both looked forward to all year. I’m looking forward to getting to sleep in the same bed every night and eating dinner with Logan. Because of the daily commute for school and lack of reliable internet at my parents house, Logan would often stay with his family to make the drive shorter and to use internet that won’t randomly go out in the middle of a test. Logan is probably looking forward to not doing homework, group projects, and those wonderful online discussion boards that all BYU-Idaho students know and love so much. He is probably also looking forward to not living out of a duffel bag and getting to deal with my ridiculous laughter every night when I stay up too late, basically every night. Even though we have been looking forward to it for so long, if I’m being totally honest, this day still does not feel like it can possibly be real. We have been in school since we met in 2012. It was my very first semester that I first met this very handsome and attractive blonde haired, blue eyed boy. My second semester is when we really started dating, I fell in love, and I knew I was supposed to marry him. Those were the only two semesters that I went to college as a single lady. We were married during what should have been my third semester, but I deferred to work and get married. All we have known is school!!! Logan has been going to school since we met too, with one change in his major, but here we are at the end and I’m feeling a little sentimental about it all. Rexburg, Idaho was where we met, shared our first kiss, dated, fell in love, Logan proposed here at the hospital, we moved into our first and second apartments, I graduated, we made married couple friends and it is where we really pushed and grew our business together. That little town was such a big part of our lives and story.

Tonight as I watch him walk across that stage, I’m going to cry- don’t worry I’m packing tissues.  I just feel so proud of Logan!! When he decided to switch majors after we were married, I was a little nervous and concerned that he wasn’t going to find something that he really liked .He has worked so hard for this and I honestly can tell you that he has found something that he loves and truly enjoys doing. I cannot wait to see where this degree in public relations and marketing will take him. In the past week as he has had final presentations and projects wrap up, multiple times he has been told of his strengths in this area and each time he told me what had been said my little heart would swell. He really has a natural gift for public speaking and I love listening to him give presentations or talks. Plus, he had a teacher ask to buy one of his photograph prints at the end of the semester. How cool is that?! He sold a print before I did and I’ve been meaning to sell my temple pictures for over a year!

As this chapter in our story ends, I am so looking forward to what life has in store for us next year and experiencing life outside of being students with Logan!! Congrats Logan!!! Thank you for keeping your promise to me and always being so positive about it all. I love you so very much and I can’t wait to really get to sleep in on Saturday morning (at least until my bladder makes it impossible to sleep any longer) and just enjoy the week before Christmas together without any homework for you to do!
